Email Account Setup

Activating your MetNet e-mail account

  1. Go to https://www.metnet.edu/initiate
  2. Read the MetNet e-mail policy.
    1. Only if you click "I Agree", will you be allowed to continue to initialize your account. You will then be forwarded to the e-mail Account Set-Up page.
    2. If you click on "I disagree, your account will not be initialized.
  3. Enter the following information to activate your account:
    1. your tech id number (found in your admission letter or on your tech ID card)
    2. your college "Dakota County Technical College"
    3. a password (which must be six to eight characters in length and contain a mixture of letters and numbers)
  4. Then click Submit
  5. You will be given a username example: jone0012
    your e-mail address will be: username@metnet.edu. Please record this.
  6. Next click Continue to Destination. Next please fill out the security question then submit.
  7. You may need to log in after 15 minutes if the MetNet server is busy, otherwise your e-mail Box should be the next page that comes up.

Logging into your MetNet e-mail account

  1. Log into http://www.MetNet.edu
  2. Under e-mail Services click on e-mail Login and enter your Username and Password
  3. To read a message, click on the subject line of the message. You can read, delete, forward, reply to or just leave the message as is.

Forwarding your MetNet e-mail to another e-mail address

Your MetNet e-mail Account will be the e-mail on your record with DCTC. We will use this address to send important information to you as a student. If you have another email address you can set your MetNet address up to forward to that account.

  1. After logging into your MetNet e-mail account click on "Set Account Options" on the left-hand column.
  2. Click on the Forward e-mail link
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Internet Options page and click the option to Set e-mail Forwarding to add another email
  4. Enter the your alternative email address to have your MetNet e-mail sent
  5. Click Submit
