Online Tutorial Sessions

If this is the first semester you have taken an online or online-enhanced course, you may want to attend an online course tutorial session on-campus to help you get started.

The tutorial sessions last less than an hour and will help guide you through:

  • Logging into your course
  • Communicating with your classmates and your instructor
  • Turning in assignments
  • How exams and quizzes operate

Sessions are on a first come first served basis - there is limited seating in each session.

Textbooks

You have two options for getting your textbooks:

Email

You will need an email account for your online course. If you do not currently have an email address or would like one specifically for your online course - you can sign up for a free account with MetNet. Check out our Email Account Setup page for information on how to setup and use your account.

If you create a new address please send an email to online@dctc.edu with your name, tech id and email address so we can get it updated in the system.

Navigation Bar »

Under the DCTC logo you will see a light blue bar. This is the main navigation bar for the course.

Course Home »

This link will take you back to this course hompage with the course news and updates that are posted for the course.

Schedule »

This link will show you the calendar for the course

Content »

This link will take you to any course materials your instructor has posted - also where the syllabus is posted. May contain readings, course handouts, lecture materials.

Discussion »

This link will take you to one of the course communication tools - may also be referred to as the bulletin board. This is where instructors will have discussion questions for you to answer and you will be able to view what your classmates have posted as well. Think of the discussion area as your public forum for sharing your thougths.

Email »

This link will allow you to send private messages to your instructor and other students in the course.

Dropbox »

This link will show you the assignment instructions and also where you turn in your assignments - similar to sending an email attachment.

Quizzes »

This link will take you to the quiz/exams for the course.

Grades »

This link will show you what your grades are for assignments etc. in the course - you will be able to keep up with your progress in the course.

News »

Also on the course homepage you will notice a news section - this is where your instructor as well as technical support will post important messages for you.
